Two weeks ago we kicked off our inaugural Rock Camp! Not only was it the first at Sunflower & friends, but the first of its kind in Lockhart. It was created by Naomi Bessette (formerly of Girl's Rock Camp Austin) and led by band coaches Camille Lewis, Gian Ortiz, and James Briceño. Students learned from working industry professionals how the basics of a live show work including load in, set times, working with sound engineers, crafting band aesthetic and more. They also spent afternoons making their very own zines and researching music history and vintage concert footage. Pictured here is the band that performed an original song in front of a live audience, Black Sun! We can't wait for next summer and more musical fun.
